Photo Gallery: Custodio pitches gem in Chino Valley


Josh Custodio gave up one hit, one run and had four strikeouts, leading the Chino Valley baseball team to a 12-1 win against Prescott High in its home opener Tuesday in Chino Valley. The Cougars (6-1) scored eight runs in the second and four in the fourth, while holding the Badgers (3-5) to only one run in the shortened five inning contest. Custodio also had success at the plate, going 2 for 3 with 2 RBIs. Tyler David went 1 for 2 with 2 RBIs, while Tyler Foley finished 1 for 1 with a walk and a hit by pitch, which resulted in two runs scored. Chino had six hits. Prescott's Clayton Lackey pitched 1 1/3 innings before being relieved by Austin Barrett. Dustin Martin finished out the game on the mound. The Badgers scored their lone run after a Jacob Eder double brought in Daniel Schleicher. Next up, Chino Valley hosts Camp Verde Thursday at 3:45 p.m. Prescott hosts Boulder Creek today at 3:45 p.m.
