This year's regional competition also saw the first entries by Heritage Middle School students. Of those, five will advance to the state competition, including:

• Junior Group Exhibit: Sierra McConnell, Chloe Coker, Keirsten Tobin, "Grace Hopper and the Development of Computers."

Preparing for the possibility of local students being selected for the NHD national contest in Maryland in June, advisor Scott Sloat is now asking for tax credit contributions, or donations directly to CVHS National History Day Club.

Tax credit donations can be made directly to the club by credit card. Call the District Office at 928-636-2258 or email ssloat@chinovalleyschools.com. The cost to attend the national competition is approximately $900 per person.
