Longtime rancher to speak at Historical Society

Betty Wells, longtime ranch woman and Chino Valley resident, will be the guest speaker at the monthly meeting of the Chino Valley Historical Society. The meeting starts at 7 p.m., Thursday, April 11, at the Chino Valley Senior Center at the corner of Road 1 West and Butterfield Rd.

Betty Wells was born in Chino Valley in the 1920s. Her father worked for the Baker-Campbell Ranch that later was the Perkins Ranch. He eventually had his own homestead.

Betty grew up ranching and cowboying with her family and for the local ranchers. She married Billy Wells in 1946. They continued to farm, ranch and raise three children. They still do some ranching today. She has experienced much of the history of Chino Valley. Come hear her stories and enjoy the company of this longtime Chino Valley resident.
