County Notices of Value will be in mail this month

Yavapai County Assessor Pam Pearsall will send out about 158,000 Notices of Value for the 2014 tax year. Property owners can expect to start seeing notices in the mail during the week of Feb. 18-22.

Each year Notices of Value are mailed to property owners. The notices represent the market value of property at the beginning of the Assessor's current year as defined by the Arizona Legislature.

Property owners will not receive their 2014 property tax bill until September 2014.

If property owners have any questions regarding their 2014 Notice of Value, they may call the Assessor's Office in either Prescott or Cottonwood.

Also, property owners have the right to petition the Assessor if they disagree with their 2014 property value.

If an owner wishes to appeal, it must be done within 60 days from the date of mailing. The appeal deadline is printed on all Notices of Value for your convenience.

"Please remember that we appeal assessed values, not tax bills. Therefore, it is imperative that taxpayers recognize that the time to complain about the assessment if there is an error is now, not when the 2014 tax bill is issued based on this valuation cycle," Pearsall said.

Appeal forms may be picked up in person at the Assessor's office or downloaded from the Assessor's website: http://www.yavapai.us/assessor.
