Letter: Anyone for Unplanned Parenthood?

Editor:

I am writing in support of the organization Unplanned Parenthood, though so far I am the only member. My main goal is to promote the idea that parenthood is not something you plan for. You can't just order it up like pizza. And you can work at it till you're blue in the face, but only God can make a baby or a parent.

And neither is parenthood something that should be prevented. Any means of birth control is against the will of God and the laws of nature. If God had intended for us to practice birth control, we would all be born with a fully-installed condom or diaphragm. And to deny parenthood to anyone, even a rapist or his victim, is to question the divine plan.

I have always felt that the sexual act should be approached not with science but with a sense of mystery - that same mystery that led our ancestors to build fertility temples and to segregate women during their periods.

And as for helping the rest of the world improve its reproductive health, to put it simply: I'm against it. World population is breeding just fine without putting ideas in people's heads.

Gene you are sorely mistaken when you say that you can not plan to be a parent or plan to have a child. You most certainly can and most people do plan to have a child from deciding when it happens, hence the need for birth control, financially, physically, demographically. Need i say more, where was your head when you wrote this?
