The community of Paulden is fortunate to have PACO - the Paulden Area Community Organization. It's a place where residents can get information and hear opinions about what's happening in their community. The PACO board exists for those very reasons, which recently were put to the test.
A resident and long-time PACO member and former PACO board member had concerns about how the PACO board was running things, particularly its president, Creagan McConnell. He was able to file the concern, explain his reasons at a recent PACO meeting to all in attendance, and have the concern go before a vote of the membership. The resident wanted to have McConnell expelled from the board, however the vote retained McConnell in the president position.
PACO carried out a democratic discussion proper vote in the matter. PACO's work today is setting the course for the community to one day have a formal government with a formal council, if that's what the community chooses in the future.
For now, though, Paulden is in good hands with PACO. More residents should come out to the monthly meetings the first Thursday of the month, 7 p.m., at the community center, and participate.
