I believe that we do have somewhat of a problem here with "backyard breeders" or uncared-for dogs. I have worked for an organization that tries to close them down so we do need tougher laws.
However, please understand that there are some of us who have several dogs for somewhat needful reasons. I have six dogs - all but two are rescues. They are here because 1. I love them all. They are fixed. I don't breed 2. I am a widow and they are now my family. I am not a hoarder. I have had them for several years. 3. I am a cancer surviver and they are the reason I fought to live! Believe me, they still keep me going. They keep my will to live. Maybe that is hard for some to understand.
I keep my house and yard spotless. Their beds are always clean. I can't afford all of the licenses being discussed. Although I will never get any more dogs in case I do not stay well, I would be just destroyed if I lost any of them. Please, please, I pray for understanding. We don't always fit in a certain mold. I am not a kennel. "We" are a family. I would welcome home inspections. I am proud of their care. Please keep enough love in your heart to understand.
