Two people died and three were seriously injured in this crash Wednesday morning on outer Loop Road

Two people died and three were seriously injured in a head on collision on Outer Loop Road Wednesday morning.

Yavapai County Sheriff's Office spokesman Dwight D'Evelyn said deputies responded about 7:50 a.m. to the accident at about milepost 2.5, between Reed Road and Williamson Valley Road, where two sedan type vehicles were involved in the collision.

D'Evelyn said a silver colored vehicle in the accident contained only the driver, and a turquoise colored vehicle contained the driver and three passengers.

Two of the people in the turquoise vehicle were pronounced dead on scene. One passenger was taken by ambulance to Yavapai Regional Medical Center and another passenger was airlifted to Flagstaff Medical Center.

The lone driver of the silver vehicle also was airlifted to Flagstaff Medical Center. D'Evelyn said preliminary reports indicate that all three people who were transported are in serious condition.

Officials will notify family members before releasing names of those who died in the collision.
