Fire board schedules interviews for interim chief candidates

Matt Santos

In its first official act, the new Chino Valley Fire District board voted on Thursday, Dec. 6, to review qualifications for its interim chief, scheduling interviews with the two prospects during a special meeting scheduled for Dec. 13 at 7 p.m.

The two candidates, Mat Mayhall and Buddy Woodhurst, both currently serve as battalion chiefs with the CVFD.

Mayhall has been with the district for 16 years, and a battalion chief for one year.

Woodhurst has been battalion chief for six years, and in the district for 27.

Both stated they are not interested in applying for the chief position full-time, a position opened by the recent resignation of John Ginn, who will leave his post on Jan. 4, 2013.

The board still is finalizing the process for filling the full-time chief position, to use a staffing company or hire a consultant.

The meeting and interviews will take place at the CVFD Station 61, 1133 W. Road 3 North.
