Event to honor virtues and values of Scouting

At 6 p.m. Tuesday, October 29, 2013 the Boy Scouts of America and The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints are celebrating 100 years of partnership.
Scouts of all ages, Scout leaders and the entire community are invited.
The celebration will originate from the 21,000- seat Conference Center in Salt Lake City, Utah. It will be broadcast to the LDS Stake Center meetinghouse located at 7073 Pronghorn Ranch Parkway in Prescott Valley, near the entrances to Pronghorn Ranch and Viewpoint subdivisions.
The event will consist of an 85 minute broadcast honoring the virtues and values of Scouting, with displays, activities, and food afterwards. Admission is free.
The community is encouraged to bring Scouting memorabilia, old and new, to be displayed during the event. Visitors can also bring old Pinewood Derby cars and enter the “Cars with Character” contest (not a race). Prizes will be awarded in several visual categories. All ages are welcome.

The LDS Church is the largest sponsor of Scouting, with more than 430,000 young men and boys currently registered in Scouting programs. According BSA statistics, 38 percent of all BSA Scouting units are affiliated with the LDS Church.
